Our maternity residence is designed to feel calm, welcoming, and supportive during a critical time. Shared spaces encourage connection, while private areas offer comfort, rest, and a sense of security.

The environment supports both physical well-being and emotional care, creating space to slow down and focus on what comes next.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Pregnant women of any age who are NC residents.

  • At this time, women in our Maternity Program are not able to bring their additional children with them.

  • Maternity residents can stay up until they deliver. A resident can complete the program and leave prior to delivery if they have accomplished the goals they set for themselves when entering the program.

  • Prior to delivery, Crittenton staff work with maternity residents to develop a safe housing plan. This can include affordable apartments, transitional housing programs and/or reunification with family. Crittenton cannot guarantee housing but staff work closely with clients to identify options for each client based on their financial options and desires. Maternity residents who are in DSS custody have the option to enroll in our Sarah’s House program with their child.

  • Incoming residents who are not already established with prenatal care can opt to receive their initial prenatal appointment scheduled through Novant, a partner of Crittenton’s. This care can be established at any Novant provider office within Charlotte.

  • Evictions are barriers that Crittenton works to overcome with clients. While an eviction can make acquiring housing more of a challenge, it is not a disqualifier to admission. Crittenton utilizes community resources to educate clients and provide support in navigating the process.

  • Clients in good standing can choose to enroll in our Aftercare Program which provides continued support for up to 3 years.
